Thank you for choosing to join me and artist Jacqueline Nicholls on this 40 day journey into a new year. I hope these reflections on the ripples of our being inspire private introspection and public conversation. Here’s today’s post:

Prepent Day 19

Facebook changed the way friendships are forged and maintained. Hoarding aside, we know who it is we like or love; we know that we don’t need (and likely can’t support) so many people in our lives as friends. Quality over quantity. Can “friend” be, once again, a more exclusive title? There are acquaintances, colleagues, buddies and people we know – all worth being present and honest with, open heart and mind. But only with a few select friends, people who have really risen to this sacred role, can we focus, fail, flourish, be fully alive. I make a list today: inner circle. Top ten? Who is no longer on the list? Reach out one way or another. Just one good friend, mutually acknowledged, is really enough. Don’t have one? How will you help to make it happen in the coming year? Good luck and good love.

Very excited for Lab/Shul’s fifth season of High Holy Days, back in Tribeca. We invite all ages to return to center, recharge soul, reclaim community and co-create our widening circles of care, compassion and justice.
